Procedure for Torquing Cylinder Head Nuts on 24 Valve Engines
The cylinder head retaining nuts are torqued in a sequence indicated on page O1-78 in the 1994 Service Manual.
Lubricate threads, nuts and washers with engine oil, follow the sequence, and gradually tighten the nuts to a torque of 18.4 ft. Ibs. using Special Socket Tool 1822121.
Attach Degree Torque Tool # 18958970 to the Special Socket Tool # 1822121. Put the magnetic end to any metal to hold degree wheel steady. Align pointer to Oo , then follow again the tightening sequence and complete the nut tightening by applying to degree tool a rotation of 240 degrees +/- 1.
