Alfa 164 Technical Service Bulletin 40.91.02

Information: SEAT MOTOR MODIFICATION lNSTRUCTlONS

Models: ALL 164 MODELS

Date: 6/14/91

Use the following instructions to install the seat motor modification box:

BASE & LUXURY MODELS (see p3 for Sport Model)

  1. Move the seat ALL the way forward and up. (Note: If the motor(s) is/are stuck, gently tap the seat motor(s) with a plastic mallet while depressing the switch.)
  2. Kneeling outside the front door, pull down ori the front lower flap of the seat cushion material (See "A", Fg.1) and slip the seat motor modification box into the side opening of the seat cushion. Route the wiring harness below the seat cushion toward the rear of the vehicle. See Figure #1.
  3. Kneeling outside the rear door, disconnect the 2 pin connector (G 184a or G 183b) with the purple and black wires. Connect the corresponding connectors of the seat motor modification box. See Figure #2.
  4. Working from the rear seat disconnect the 6 pin connector (G 155a or G 155b) under the seat. Plug in the corresponding connectors of the seatmotor modification box. See Figure #3.
  5. Verify that all wires and metal terminals are securely locked in their respective and test seat motors for proper operation.

SPORT MODEL ONLY

  1. Move the seat ALL the way forward and up. (Note: If the motor(s) is/are stuck, gently tap the seat motor(s) with a plastic mallet while depressing the switch.)
  2. Kneeling outside the rear door, slit the carpeting across the top edge of the channel and then down the outer edge so that the seat motor modification box will fit under the carpeting. (See Figure #4 below).
  3. Disconnect the 2 pin connector (G 184a or G 183b) with the purple and black wires. Plug in the corresponding connectors of the seat motor modification box. (See Figure #2 on page 2).
  4. Disconnect the 6 pin connector (G 155a or G 155b) under the seat. Plug in the corresponding connectors of the seat motor modification box. (See Figure #3 on page 2).
  5. Verify that all wires and metalterminals are securely locked in their respective connectors, and test seat motors for proper operation.
