Information: Airbag Warnina Light Fault Display

Models: 1991 thru 1993 Spider & 164

Currently two styles of Airbag ECU's are in service on the Spider and 164 models. The two styles of ECU's are identical in function and differ only in how they display fault codes.

During fault code display, on Style 1, the warning light will flash briefly once for a number one, twice for number two, or three times for number three etc. On Style 2, the warning light will stay lit constantly for 25 seconds to display a number one, then, flash briefly twice for number two, or three times for number three etc.

FOR EXAMPLE:

1= ON FOR 25 SEC.
2= TWO BRIEF FLASHES
CODE 141= ONE BRIEF FLASH
4= FOUR BRIEF FLASHES
1= ON FOR 25 SEC.
4= FOUR BRIEF FLASHES
CODE 31 3= THREE BRIEF FLASHES
1= ONE BRIEF FLASH
3= THREE BRIEF FLASHES
1= ON FOR 25 SEC.
CODE 424= FOUR BRIEF FLASHES
2= TWO BRIEF FLASHES
4= FOUR BRIEF FLASHES
2= TWO BRIEF FLASHES

EXCEPTION: With style 2, when the ign. key is first turned on, the first 12 will be displayed as very fast flashes. The remaining 12's will be presented as listed above - Style 2 Column.

NOTE:There is no change in the procedure for retrieving and clearing fault codes for either style. ( see bulletin # 00.91.05 )
