Hello,

As we all know, the post-1993 LCD saga
continuing. There's - by now - four solutions:

1. Josue From Portugal tells that we need to
dismantle AC unit and put some rubber between
board and shell
Pros: cheap Cons: complicated de-montaging

2. Leif Lorentzen from Denmark has his own
solution (I had intensive e-mail conversation with
him about this problem): he recive AC unit by mail
and fix, then send back to you

PROS: reliable CONS: You must leave your
164 without AC controls, pay DHL and pay (of
course) Leif for fixing, and pay DHL back to you.

3. New Unit. You must be nuts to pay 1500 Euros
for whole computer because 10% is not working...

4. Scrapyard. find a post-1993 164 and buy AC
unit.

PROS: cheap CONS: You'll never know when
LCD will start to melting down again; than, there's
veeeeery little last series 164's on scrapyards.
The only solution is to find an Italian to dig out
some 1995-164, because in rest of the world
there's not many post-1993 164's on
scrapyards.....
The only chance is 164-motherland, where are
many of damaged Alfas.....

Any Italian friends to help to find AC unit?

Just wondering if the switches and LCD are laid out the same on both left and right hand drive cars, does anyone have the answer?

Yes they are. It was mentioned in the UK article that because of the viewing angle it's hard to see the green light on the right most column of buttons if you are sitting on the right side. So both are same.
however, you have note that not every country uses Fahrenheit scale inseated of Celcious for the temperature.

I wasn't clear enough on above comment.
If you look closely, the green indicator light is located right side of the button. So right most column of buttons have the green lights almost facing the right end of the switch board. And if you look at from the right side it's really hard to see that green lights. If they were to rearange them on right hand cars they would have redesigned the button so the indicator lights are on left side of the botton.
