"Head bolt retorque sequence?"

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-09 AT 04:53 AM (EST)

Hi guys. Shame, this site doesn't bustle like it used to hey!!??
Anyway... what does?

Going to retorque the heads of my 12V 3.0 1990, as it is blowing bubbles on decelleration into my water bottle, very very little mayonaise in the bottle.

Any specific sequence to follow besides from the center bolts outwards? Have checked the archives, I see 78 - 80 lb-ft is recommended by Del some time back. Also took note not to remove all the intake pipes to get to the back cover as it is unnecessary.

Should I require new intake gaskets, can I cut them out of cork gasket???

Thanks guys.

Start in the middle move out in every increasing right to left rectangle until you all 8 loosening one at a time.

Maybe remove one in middle and loosen couple near end. If gaskets on one(s) you remove bad make new ones from like material.

Thanks Steve, done, it was not a difficult job at all! Well, still blowing bubbles eventhough the heads were far from torqued properly, and trying bars leaks as a last resort before redoing heads which we will do ourselves as well.
