"Fiat 500 coming to America"

Looks like we'll have a little benefit from Fiat's partial takeover of Chrysler: The excellent 500 is coming here as a 2011 model. Gonna go see it at the Chicago auto show this weekend. Hopefully they let people sit inside.

Looks like we'll be getting the 1.4 16v engine. Engine is gonna be built in Michigan, rest of the car built in Mexico.

I just may buy my first ever brand new car.

Mmmmm, really nice looking. Oh, you meant the cars.

It's a fun looking car, saw lots of them in Italy. I'm curious to drive the SS model. I did notice that Jeremy (Top Gear) really likes the SS, but the Brit mag CAR panned it, saying it handled poorly on road rougher than a smooth racetrack. Suspension too stiff they thought.

They do like the Mito, would like to test drive that as well.

There was a post some time back in which someone was talking about test driving one of these over in Italy. Supposedly it compares pretty well to the Mini, but has a better ride and feel.

Smaller and cuter than the Mini. The Abarth has an inferior ride to the latest Mini, apparently, but "lesser" 500's ride well. The 500 is also slower than the quickest Mini but should be much cheaper. I saw the early cars when I was in Florence in 2007 just after the European release and it is very good looking. It is an infinitely better City car than the Smart (dumb machine that). I will definitely look into one when they arrive in NA.
