There are two different archiving systems in place.

Archives of volumes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9 are available in the directory ftp://ftp.digest.net/bmw/.

The web archive of Volume 9 is currently being rebuilt. Volume 5 will be rebuilt shortly, and other volumes for which there is no web archive will be built for the first time, time permitting.

Volume 1 currently consists of two monolithic gzip'd tar archives. They will eventually be converted to web archives. Volume 2 is web only. Volume 7 does not exist. Volume 8, due to a miscue, contains exactly one issue, and a useless one at that. Volume 9 has been split into 3 parts. Given the nonexistence or uselessness of V8 and V7, V9 has cheerfully taken over those volumes.

Marc Search

The MARC search is more focused, but places a greater load on the server. It is not available at top level (here) because of the high load, but may be accessed for each volume.

Please practice responsible searching; don't start multiple windows and run several searches in parallel.

Notes on Google Search

The Google search covers the entire website including some British and Italian cars, so be sure to include the word BMW in your search string. For example, try searching for "BMW Thermostat" and see what turns up.

The Google search also omits some pages, and in particular will usually miss recent articles

A better search engine focused on these web archives is in the works.
